Who is “the Ange”?

Bio-

Angela Woody is a self-taught abstract artist based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She began her creative journey in middle school, sketching still life, and through years of exploration and experimentation, her practice evolved into a passion for acrylics, texture, and mixed media.

Guided more by emotion than by place, her art is deeply influenced by moods and the expressive possibilities of materials. Each piece is designed to draw the viewer inward, inspiring curiosity about the process and encouraging a deeper look at the textures and layers that define her work.

While the beauty of Chattanooga’s natural surroundings plays a subtle role in her inspiration, Angela’s art ultimately reflects an inner landscape — one where feeling, intuition, and experimentation converge

From the artist:

Growing up I was given many nicknames, but my favorite was always “Ange”. And every time my mom would speak about me she always added “the” in front of it, making me sound (and feel) very important.

I miss her every day, and I miss the way only her words could make me feel about myself. So to honor her and her support of my creative aspirations… I give you “Art By The Ange”.

Every step of my artistic journey has been influenced by the people and feelings I’ve experienced. I like to think of my body of work as a physical, tangible sort of diary. My soul on canvas and paper.

“I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t

say any other way…things I had no words for.”
